Open Audition Call 2022

Get a head start on vocational training at Young Dancers Academy

Early-entry Auditions - 12th and 18th December 2022

Young Dancers Academy is excited to announce a new Year 6 vocational training programme to give talented young dancers a head-start on full-time vocational training. From January 2023, we have Year 6 places available for children who are keen to embark on the journey to become a professional performer, whilst achieving academic excellence in small, nurturing classes. Young Dancers Academy offers aspiring dancers an exceptional education – both academic and vocational. Our students come from diverse and varied backgrounds, but share a love of dance and a determination to succeed. The teaching faculty offer a wealth of expertise, experience and enthusiasm, in a kind and encouraging environment.

“For fifteen years, YDA has remained the best kept secret in ballet - we now see past students dancing in leading ballet companies, performing in West End productions and carving international film careers. In essence our school makes dreams and aspirations come true!” - Kerry Williams, Executive Director

Vocational Training The ballet training offered at YDA is carefully structured to develop technique, musicality and expression in an environment that fosters healthy, happy and hardworking dancers. The ballet curriculum is enriched by contemporary, jazz, tap, musical theatre, drama and music, to create versatile and confident performers. YDA graduates go on to elite upper schools in Britain and beyond; in 2022 alone, graduates gained places at the Royal Ballet School, English National Ballet School, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance, Central School of Ballet, Elmhurst Ballet School and Laine Theatre Arts. Students have performed with English National Ballet, touring in their productions of Cinderella, Raymonda and La Sylphide. Students have also had the opportunity to perform on West End stages in the West London School of Dance production of The Nutcracker.

“Many of YDA’s students now have successful careers on stage and screen thanks to the exceptional training and pastoral care” - Leanne Benjamin AM OBE Patron

Academic Training YDA also offers a rich and rigorous academic curriculum, allowing each child to realise their full potential. Although not academically selective, students consistently achieve GCSE results well above the national average. In 2022, YDA students gained 58% Grade 9-7 (compared to 26% nationally) and 99% Grade 9-4 (compared to 73% nationally). They gain the knowledge and skill to seek opportunities beyond ballet, including top universities. In recent years, 10% of YDA graduates have gone on to gain places at Oxbridge.

Limited places in Year 7 and Year 8 also available for immediate start; means- tested bursaries are available.

Audition dates: 12th and 18th December. For further information please email Kerry Williams, Executive Director via info@youngdancersacademy.com
