A Memorable Day for Dance at LVBS MegaMasterclass with Steven McRae

LVBS recently hosted an exciting MegaMasterclass day in collaboration with Royal Ballet Principal Dancer Steven McRae. Generously supported and hosted by English National Ballet (ENB), this event provided aspiring dancers aged 9 to 17 with a free, unparalleled opportunity to learn from one of the world's foremost ballet artists.

Held at ENB's state-of-the-art Holloway Production Studio in Canning Town, the day featured large group classes accompanied by live music. The sessions with over 200 dancers emphasised musicality, community, and a shared passion for dance.

Steven McRae, renowned for his dynamic performances with The Royal Ballet, expressed his pride in witnessing young dancers come together to celebrate their love for ballet. Many volunteers generously gave their time to support the day, including talented pianist James Golborn.

Talking about the event, Steven said: "My aim was always to create an opportunity for young dancers to come and share their passion and even remind themselves of ‘WHY’ they want or like to Dance and all at no cost to the students and their carers. This initiative was made possible by a wonderful anonymous donor & my hope is that we can create more opportunities for more young people, removing the financial barriers that prevent so many from these experiences!"

The MegaMasterclass not only offered technical training but aimed to foster a sense of community among its participants. The event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of LVBS, ENB, the Du Boisson Dance Foundation, and a generous anonymous donor. This partnership exemplifies a shared dedication to enriching the dance community's emerging artists and providing exceptional opportunities for those pursuing dance as a passion across the UK.
